For the first time, RubyTM and RufusTM, The Bears With DiabetesTM, are available for retail sale. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's (JDRF) ongoing efforts to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes, a chronic, incurable disease which affects more than one million Americans.
Designed by Carol Cramer, Ruby and Rufus are fully-costumed floppy beanbag bears with heart appliques to indicate blood testing and insulin injection areas to help educate and comfort patients newly diagnosed with diabetes. Cramer created the first bear with diabetes after her son, Brian, now 10, was diagnosed at age 3.
Ruby and Rufus, The Bears With Diabetes, are available in both 11 and 17-inch sizes.
